Takanakuy

Every year on Christmas Day the people of Chumbivilcas, Peru celebrate with a fighting festival most easily described as the annual purge. Men, women, and children alike are encouraged to challenge each other and resolve grievances via hand to hand combat in a supervised setting. Each fight begins and ends with a handshake or hug.
