The immigrant and refugee's plight entering the United States has been fraught with injustice, cruelty, and dehumanization. The children who are being imprisoned at our borders, cannot speak for themselves. The politicians have made their lives pawns for their own agendas.
On July 12, 2019, I volunteered as a photographer for the Lights for Liberty organization in Boston, Massachusetts. During the afternoon, many speakers took the stage to speak about how to create better legislation to protect immigrants and refugees. At the end of the event, there was a moment of silence to remember the children who died while in the "care" of the United States Immigration Facilities.
The following photos were taken as I walked among the crowd on that summer afternoon.
Highlighting these children in black and white, is a stark reminder of the immigrant and refugee children who died without their parents, caught in a government system that has created a humanitarian crisis.
