Brasília has always been a widely photographed city. Photographers, generally in black and white, would focus on its modernist architecture, its large empty spaces and the smallness of human presence in this vastness. This kind of representation, repeated through its six decades of existence, bored me a bit when I moved here in 2014, and it was all I wanted to skip when I started exploring the city. The lack of people in such spaces makes it a very challenging city for street photography - if you're interested in people's interaction.
So, I decided to use photography to recreate a city that could be more like I wanted it to be: surprising, colorful and prone to human encounters, even if sometimes I just manage to see traces and shadows of my fellow citizens. In such encounters, what I look for is the unexpected and some mystery, a certain sense of drama which can suggest an open-ended plot in the viewer's mind.
