One new work from Lumen As a photographer I began as a painter I recently began working on a new series of works that combine digital painting and photography. These Lumen are photographs of flowers that a six-year daughter of a friend gave me. She came to visit me every Sunday to make “things” and eat cookies - often stopping on the edge of someone’s garden and pick flowers, these tokens were presented to me on her arrival. These new works are reminiscent of a Lumen prints made during the development of photography in the 19th century. Photographers using plant material to create an subtle impression of plants by long exposed to the sun. My work has reflected the natural world, through which I hope to transport the viewer to a place they may have been and is perhaps familiar. Generally, my work questions what is “wild” and how we are negotiating our relationship with wilderness and our environment. My work has reflected the natural world, through which I hope to transport the viewer to a place they may have been and is perhaps familiar. I do this through long term observes with long term and renewed engagement with my subjects.
