2009. As a consequence of the crisis, architectural development projects fall still. More and more building locations are empty and abandoned. Not the top-location next to the harbour in Scheveningen.
At this location, betheen harbour, beach and boulevard, the surf hostel F.A.S.T. is built.
F.A.S.T. is a project without a plan. Unexpected events are incorporated in the development of the terrain and still the project grows. On the terrain you find containers and cabins, each with its own function: hostel, atelier, studio, kitchen, restaurant etc.
F.A.S.T is now a cultural platform where families, entrepreneurs, artists, surfers, students, skaters, musicians, and tourists meet (re)create and build bridges.
2015. The economy is growing again. It seems that F.A.S.T. hast to close down in September - since the city of the Hague has other plans with the terrain.
This is the first chapter of an ongoing project, that will follow the activity at F.A.S.T. until the moment that all the containers are cleared and the terrain is empty again.
