Everyone strolling the streets encounters lost goods. One glove, one shoe, useless stuff. Nothing to wonder about. However, some of these lost objects attract more attention than others. They are not just laying around but are exposed in the urban landscape so prominently that they can not fail to attract the attention of even the most distracted passer-by. What does such exposure mean, what story does it wants to tell us?
These conspicious objects seem to have been deliberately staged in order to be found. To be found back by the ones who lost them. I presume the sentiment behind this staging act to be: empathy which the finder feels for the loser. This feeling is the deeper as the value of the lost object for the loser is supposed to be greater. Everyone knows the frustration about the loss of that dear old cap, or that nice glove making the remaining one useless. It is such pain that the finder hopes to relieve, by helping the loser to get back his lost glove, shoe or keys.
If my asumption is right, such empathy would be a sign of hope, of solidarity: indeed we are not only wolves toward our fellow men.
