Over the past decade, Venezuela has become a country infamous for its political controversies, social unrest and hyperinflation. In Caracas, the capital, shanty towns that grew larger due to overpopulation in the 80s are now home to communities that have been decimated by a spiraling economy. This work explores the state of some of Caracas largest slums through the innocence of children growing up in a modern underworld. These are 10 photographs of a series of 58 taken over the course of 5 years (2009 - 2014) in Caracas, Venezuela. All photographs taken on Ilford HP5 BW film.
