These photographs of the ancient fortification Masada - in the Judean Desert, Israel, overlooking the Dead Sea (the lowest point on Earth) - were taking during and after sunrise.
Due to the shrinking of the Dead Sea and the high salt content in the water, over time it has eroded the once water filled planes and turned the desert into an ethereal and otherworldly landscape.
These photographs show over time, the destructive power of nature much like the devastating power of man many centuries ago.
