Forbidden Playground

The Hong Kong government announced the closure of all public playground on March 27, 2020 due to COVID-19. I visited a few neighbourhood playgrounds and was attracted by the shapes and forms of the playground facilities wrapped and tied with plastic tapes and nets. They look likes some sorts of “sculptures”. It is quite ironical that the practice of “social-distancing” have allowed me to have really close encounter with these playground facilities, in different angles and perspectives. Towards the end of this exercise, when I am editing the shots, China announced that they will pass the HK Version of National Security Law on behalf of the HK Legislative Council. The shots take on a different meaning to me. They symbolize HK fast-forwarded to the year 2046. Under the "One Country Two SystemsPolicy" , promise was made to Hong Kong that no changes will be made for 50 Years. With the Creation of the HK Edition of PRC National Security Law, Hong Kong, the Liberal Playground where I grew up , is now tied in these red tapes.
