Portraits from Siem Reap
Like most tourists, I traveled to Siem Reap in the north-western part of Cambodia to see the majestic architectural remains of the Khmer Empire. But as I followed a carefully planned itinerary around the Angkor Archaeological Site, I got more drawn to the people living their everyday lives in this ancient place. Instead of taking photographs of the Angkor temples, I took home portraits of women, men, & children walking in the streets, diligently working, & beholding the treasures of their past with strangers from other countries. Like most of my photographic series & projects, I consider this only as a beginning as I plan to return to Siem Reap to make more portraits & document the lives of its inhabitants.
