"Dame de Feu", or Lady of Fire, is a theatrical exploration of the self as affected by trauma. Through a flux between traditional and unconventional portrait making methods, the narrative lives within a tension between the fantastical and the real.
As it stands, the narrative of the series explores a young woman drifting in and out of a dream where she figuratively fights her past traumas. "Dame de Feu" struggles to find peace as she fights with these lingering negative emotions. Often leaving her within a dreamscape of her internal conflict, existing within a battleground aided by her perseverance; the flame that keeps her burning.
This series is an allegorical representation of my bout with victim blaming and shame after I confided in a few people about being raped in January 2014. For the past year I've struggled with finding peace. This series is a celebration of perseverance.
