Mbola from Naivasha Maximum Security Prison, Kenya

In October 2019 I visited Naivasha Maximum Prison, one of the larger maximum security prisons in Kenya. Situated a few hours drive from Nairobi, the prison is surrounded by beautiful green hills and impressive lakes. The prison itself is a vast expanse containing countless prisoners, many of whom will be there for life. Working with Justice Defenders, an organisation providing access to justice for those who need it most, I set out to document the stories of some the the prisoners and guards who where involved in the great work of Justice Defender and helping to make, shape and implement the law in Kenya.
