I met Jayde serendipitously in the summer of 2019 while walking on a New Jersey beach. It was a foggy day, and I was there with my Mamiya RZ67, as I was working on my photo project, ‘Summer Unseen’, and I love to take photos in the fog.
I spotted Jayde from afar, and immediately knew that I wanted to take her portrait. She possesses this very casual confidence that I found compelling and interesting. I asked her father if it was okay, and she kindly posed for me.
We have since become friends, and she and her family have come to my home many times as we work on an ongoing photo project documenting her high school years. Lots of future shoots planned, I consider myself very lucky to have met her and befriended her family.
