This project is about making the biggest journey of your life. The complete project has over 50 images. These images were made in Calais at the height of the 'migrant crisis' 2015/2016. I met people who had travelled from Iraq, Syria, and the Sudan. Many had travelled on foot and were trying to get to the UK. Many of the refugees stayed in The Jungle, Calais Refugee Camp, while they tried to get across the Channel. The first thing that struck me was that many of the people had no shoes. How could this be, 21 miles from England and people had no shoes? I later found out that when the refugees would attempt to board trains, lorries or boats, and were caught, the French police would take their shoes. These images I have made show objects, food and personal belongings are lost or discarded on their journey.
