Spirits of Place is an imagined recollection of a journey made by settlers of Newbury, Vermont. I have been documenting my adopted town in a mystical magical, dreamlike way, wandering quiet roads, striding through the silence of fulgent valley fog to catch fleeting glimpses of vernacular landscapes where heirloom apple trees still fruit in abandoned one-room schoolhouse lawns and livestock still graze in verdant valleys.
Twenty-one images were chosen for the first phase of my journey, titles of the images edited out for the purposes of "Journey" are within parentheses.
