Back to Square One

For many years I worked exclusively with a Rolleiflex twin-lens-reflex camera, enjoying the quality of the medium format negatives and the accuracy of the waist-level viewing system. What I enjoyed most about the Rollei, though, was the 2 1/4" x 2 1/4" square format. There was something about it that perfectly suited the way I put together the elements of an image—allowing for a calm, almost meditative, representation of the world. Though now digital, this work is a return to that format and to that manner of representation.
