This entry gives us a double snapshot of what became of Vietnam after its bloody war with the United States and its story of a country with one foot in Ancient Asia and another firmly leaping to join the global economy. Assuming it regains some of its momentum after covid, Vietnam will continue its journey where five-star beach resorts, flashy nightlife and fashion have replaced B-52 bombers, napalm and swamp firefights. My own journey of photographing these changes initially took 10 years of periodic visits. And now, I continue shooting the evolution of this beautiful and interesting land, keeping in mind the 50th anniversary of the end of the war is approaching in 2024.
