Don't forget your hat - on Titicaca, it is easy for a sunburn. The Lake is situated high, on 3,812 m (12,507 ft,) and it covers a vast area of an inland sea.
The tourism was welcomed here some 50 years ago, but the life of the area goes at a much slower paste from the one of the busy Cusco or bustling Lima.
It is no imaginary savage paradise - what is contemporary, found its way here as everywhere else, and the people are well aware of the treasures of their cultural heritage. In fact, they can be admired for the way they manage their resources at the benefit of their communities.
No need to be a pest - no urge to be pestered. There are no more exotic lands to discover.
