These images are from my book "The World is Beautiful: Two Years on the Road: (Photos)," Yewell Street Press 2019. After my father's death, I went on a spontaneous, unplanned journey that eventually took me around the world for two years and led me to a new acceptance of my loss and of our both beautiful and painful world. I wanted to try to capture this dual nature of our world. Beauty requires pain and pain beauty. They cannot exist without each other. It is the impermanence that is so hard for us to accept and which photography is so able to express, fleeting moments never to be seen or experienced again.
