One thing I vividly remember from my time growing up in Cali is the light from the street lamps, bathing the night in a magic yellowish hue. When I started going out alone, I used to sit down and watch how the street lamps began turning on while the sky became darker and the everything moved onto a fantastical plane. I left my city many years ago and the light was never the same. This series is an attempt to recapture the light of my memory, that yellow sodium light and the atmosphere it evoked. All photographs were shot in Cali, during holiday visits to my family. I played with long exposures and saturated colors in an attempt to bring out the quality I remember.
