Passengers is an exploration of daily life in New York City utilizing the themes and compositions of street photography, but in a more illustrative manner, as to present a different view of the uniqueness of this city.
If the skyscrapers of Manhattan are the heart of the city, in reality, the New York City subway system is both actually and metaphorically the nervous system of the five boroughs. For most New Yorkers, the transit system defines the contours of their lives: it knits together their daily parts, and conditions their sensibilities, with smiles, anguish, music listening, and queries of direction. Pulsing with life, the trains pass station-to-station, exiting, entering--taking its passengers on journeys from the mundane to the decisive.Nowhere else in America do citizens spend so much time underground.
