Born Again

With almost five hundred cosmetic surgery clinics in Seoul’s Gangnam district alone and an estimated one in three Korean women having cosmetic work, South Korea, per head of population, is the plastic surgery capital of the world. The halls of Gangnam's Apugeong subway station radiate with fluorescent light boxes beaming cosmetic surgery ‘before and after’ advertisements. For many South Koreans cosmetic surgery has become a rite of passage. Respected physician Lee Jae Hae qualified as a plastic surgeon from Seoul’s Yonsei University in 1998 and in the same year opened JJ-Clinic in the heart of Gangnam. A devout Christian and member of Onnuri Community Church, Lee often plays sermons and gospel hymns during surgery. His slogan “Hospital like Church” very much evident with religious writings taking equal place alongside medical journals. His soul purpose to bring a smile to his patients new faces and help them find God.
