Saltwater in the desert. North Kenya
Few tourists visit the Turkana tribes of northern Kenya near Lake Baringo, the largest desert saltwater reservoir in the world. Probably this is why a disposable lighter, one of the most popular inventions of the previous century, is still not a well-known object here, let alone a frequently used item. Stony earth, burnt by the sun and devoid of minerals, creates an unfavorable atmosphere for the eyes of the stranger, and the lack of fresh water, fruit, vegetables and even trees makes life a complicated torment. However, all this is rewarded by the people here. Curious about strangers, kind, and with unfeigned empathy they reveal the best human qualities.
