I am amazed, excited, and challenged by the increasing complexity of life and our world. My view on the chosen subject is first as an observer. Then I move to an analytical position, which leads to amazement. I try to grasp the complexity, not only rationally but also sensually and emotionally.
When working with my portrait subjects, I look for the special moment; the glimpse of the twinkle in the stream of inner events. This glimpse is the perfect moment when the portrayed forgets the camera is there and isn't posing, but is all by himself. This moment is captured in the skipper's gaze in BEFORE THE STORM.
