Death Valley and the lakes, Sierra Nevada, California

These pictures are taken on a road trip from Lake Tahoe to Death Valley, across Sierra Nevada, California. Lake Tahoe is a fresh water lake, the largest alpine lake in North America. Further down we come across Mono Lake. It is a lake with a high level of salts. This helps create the Tufa towers what it makes the lake look so peculiar. Alabama Hills is a popular filming location for westerns movies. From here we can have a glance to Mt. Whitney the highest summit in Sierra Nevada with 4,421 mt. As we drive along the landscape changes into a desert scenery. The view of Death Valley seen from the top of a hill is magnificent. At the bottom of the valley we find Badwater Basin the lowest point below sea level -85,5 mt.
