The Virgin Islands of the United States is mostly populated by people of African descent. The practice of African spirituality and traditions has been diluted, so that colonial laws and practices are not challenged. As such, the descendants of enslaved persons live identities from vague recollections of Africa intertwined with remnants of seven colonial flags and the American persona. The territory is forming a new identity.
