"The Peony Project"

The Peony Project: I began The Peony Project by chance five years ago after passing a large, lush bush of peonies at a local park during my early morning walks with my dog. Having only my iPhone in hand, I began to work with a camera app that would allow me to shoot large files and also with a macro feature. Since then I've expanded to shooting beyond that garden (always peonies), within my small window of opportunity before the blooms die. I never use filters and my minimal editing and post-production work is done mostly in the phone as well. My objective is to present the lyrical and balletic nature of the blossoms, with my desire to be more than just decorative in the end, but rather dramatic and transcendent.
