Use of tactile, experimentational and improvisational techniques, inspired by the work of Hui Hsien Ng, Stephen Gill and Susan Derges, in order to explore ideas of Psychogeography, (im)materiality of the image and how one can forge an emotional connection through practically immersing themselves in their surroundings. A space can influence your feelings (frustration, confusion, inner-peace etc.) and these are reflected through the methods used. There is also a relation to Disassociation and Derealisation, episodes of which I often experience (therefore, a self-expressive, therapeutic and personal project) – trying to break out of and remedy this, to feel present and moved by a space, finding ‘immensity’ as referenced by Gaston Bachelard in The Poetics of Space.
