#01978 - Captain Zabalaga’s crew went on strike in late 2012, demanding salaries that were owed to them but which couldn’t be paid due to the airline’s growing financial troubles. Captain Zabalaga handed in his resignation days later.

#01979 - Waiting has become an important part of the struggle for LAB’sremaining employees. Workers hold the fort as a symbol of companionship. Their presence is also needed to fend off closure or occupation by government and tax officials.

#01981 - Much of the hardware that remains at LAB consists of old engines and unused parts. Because the airline can no longer afford to buy replacements, engine casings continue to pile up, empty and unused.

#01995 - With over four decades at LAB, Alberto Rocha is the company’s longest-serving employee. He joined the company in 1971 and is now a senior technical supervisor. “I can tell what’s wrong with an engine just by the way it sounds,” he says.
