All of my senses are awakened by continuous noise and motion of existing presences. When I walk in the New York city with a camera in my hands, my instincts constantly click the shutter to capture the overwhelming experiences. Photographing streets allows me to record my where about, mapping out my sense of belonging. Everything that touches my sense and memory, I press a shutter release.
What I encountered through the medium of my camera is here in my photographs. I’ve come across hundreds of people and things on the streets, those I’ve passed, and those who’ve passed me. We never talk to each other, and we will perhaps never see one another again since everyone is living his or her own lives, and not attentive to the composition of another person's life in the same world. By creating a visual capture in time, I record someone's else's presence in my life, as well as my existence in theirs, and so in silence we have shared a moment together.
Capturing the very present encounters are the evidence of my existence in the world with others.Through recording the lives on the street, I could find the connections to the world in a natural way. I press one shutter, one moment I am in control of my decision, but environments and surroundings are out of my control. I do not live alone, the world is connected to me, connected in a way I cannot avoid. We all exist in the imperfect world praying for a miracle.
