"New Normal", portraits from a social distance
Always interested in observing details and moments that show our human, more vulnerable side, I am exploring how we live and cope with life.
Going food shopping in North London during lockdown in April, I was struck by the unsettling atmosphere around town and started thinking of how to photograph it.
I decided to photograph a series of portraits of people wearing face masks. Visually breaking the social distancing rule, by taking close-up portraits with a long lens, I was taking the portraits from a distance of several meters.
Despite them wearing face masks, we can still understand and read how these people felt that day during the first lockdown in London.
