In times of conflict we focus too much on our differences that we overlook what unites us. These images reflect on the biggest conflict of all that is prevalent to human nature - the battle of the mind, with an understanding that the only real difference between us is through the choices we make.
Based on my own personal belief and inspired by the Garden of Eden, the images form a symbolic narrative to illustrate and explore the concept of free will and choice. I have used Eve to represent imperfect life in a perfect world.
However, these images are not a traditional representation, as Eve is taken out of the context of the garden. Previous portrayals in art have emphasized the greenery of nature, these images exclude the environment and external influences over which we have no control in order to focus on self-control. And Eve is portrayed as a solitary figure to emphasize responsibility and accountability. But she is not totally alone in the images as God is portrayed through the Light, a constant and essential source in all the images and just as the battle must be fought and won in the mind – so Light overcomes darkness.
