From the mythological goddess of all the things that one can call happiness to its importance in art history, Venus' birth coming out of the water is in all of our minds. But who is Venus? Painters have traditionally assembled the favourite features from the bodies of models of their liking to create the perfectly aesthetic classical form; but Venus is in all of us. The shells reveals her as much as it protects and monumentalises. Those images are meant to be printed big, facing the spectator and putting them in the presence of the sacred.
