Portraits

I enjoy making fine art portraits of people. To me, these models are characters in an almost literary sense. It is up to the viewer's imagination what the back story of the image could be. I am concerned with attitude, setting, and description. These photographs are orchestrated by me, allowing for a spontaneous response to come from the model. Color, texture, props, clothing, the quality of light and background combine with the pose in a synergistic manner. Sometimes, I have a narrative in mind. At other times, I follow a person's lead and innate knowing. Improvisation and performance during the photoshoot are important to me. Photography is a way for me to express the inherent beauty I see in a person.
