My work is influenced by my personal belief and discoveries of the divinity of women and the godly potential of life. I gravitate to high key images that have plenty of light in the frame, emphasizing the background and playing with negative space. My subjects often are surrounded by nature that has an equal amount of dominance or emphasis as they do, as I explore the idea of the two being equally grandiose. Sometimes these ideas and images are prompted by the story of Adam and Eve, while other times these ideas are inspired by the varying degrees and types of feminine characteristics we find in the world.
An artist that I have been inspired by is Claude Debussy, a musical artist. His song “Claire De Lune” is almost always the constant background music to my work. His music starts soft and builds power while having many moving parts. This has inspired me to experiment with the varying aspects of femininity, what it means to me, and has encouraged my attempt to express femininity in a two dimensional photograph with a three-dimensional in-the-moment feeling. Color is critical in my work, I like to keep the color scheme monochromatic and analogous (the same color, or colors touching in the color wheel).
