For many years, I've been taking portraits in search for inspiration and feeling of connectedness. Some photos were taken in full of colors, techniques and tricks. However, I could not get that feeling of connection as much as I intended, until I looked back the photos of my daughter that I've been taking since she was born. Taking photos of my daughter did not require any special techniques or directions, I only needed to let my eyes follow her and see the world through her eyes. It was indeed a moment of perfect communication and connection, where her eyes and my imagination were perfectly in tuned. My unicorn has been always in front of me, not somewhere far away. I believe many people may be experiencing the similar enlightment during the COVID pandemic that the happiness is always near us, we just need to open our eyes and hearts.
I plan to continue this project, 'Searching for a Unicorn', to capture the people who try to find their happiness in simple daily routine and to share broadly through publishing a photo book and organizing an exhibition. The photos will be printed in a size of approx. 5ft at the longest for exhibitions.
