A curtain as a background, a chair with a headrest, a tripod, a camera, a room that can be plunged into darkness and a pocket-flashlight. That's it, the stage is set. All that remains is to find a model (in other words the most difficult part...).
During the thirty seconds of exposure I "walk" the flashlight around the model in order to illuminate her face uniformly. This is what gives the blur in the person's gaze, something a bit ghostly. The pose is uncomfortable and I ask the subject to remain impassive, expressionless.
In spite of the static aspect, there is an element of uncertainty, of apprehension in these portraits: a paradox of immobility and movement. Even though there is a single light, it is multiform and cancels itself out, revealing several facets of the same model.
