Behind Closed Doors

The theme of supporting your local restaurant has been circling social media a great deal during the period of Covid-19 Lockdown and it gave me an idea. Somehow the hospitality and tourism industries have been really good at getting this very strong message across. I wanted to show my support in the best way I can, through my art. #supportlocal is the theme for this personal photograpy project and it shows the local restaurants, cafés and eateries and the families that run them. The images dives into the new normal that these restaurants, families and children have had to adapt to, and show us a glimpse of the reality they have been dealing with during the time that their restaurants were forced closed. This photography series is my gift to the local Morningside restaurant community I live in and the surrounding suburbs. Supporting your local restaurant doesn’t just keep the restaurant running, but the families that run them and is the livelihood of everyone who works there, their families, their children.
