I am inspired to create portraits where my subject can see their beauty as I see it – or they find in the image something that they never saw in themselves before. I am especially interested in creating images that challenge the definition of beauty. We rarely see photographs of people with disabilities, celebrating their bodies in ways that are sensuous and provocative. I hope to capture the unique beauty and humanity of each person that I will have the honor to photograph.
I am also drawn to what happens when I photograph a subject through an everyday screen. The light that is filtered, depending on the time of day, can transform a face into dreamlike image or it can add texture and dimension that can change the emotional tone of the photograph.
