While we are here is diaristic, in it I photograph people I know and love. I treat each image as a celebration of our lives shared and our creativity documented. The work is truly spontaneous, created in tiny apartment living rooms, it is my fantasy of capturing how the people I spend my life with feel in these moments and recording my sense of our existence and the energy that surrounds us. This work is made on mostly 35mm film. This work I started when I was at college, it is the work I started making for myself outside of school, from 2012 - till now I have documented my friends, family and community in this visual form. The work is staged as it is my preference in shooting, there is always an element of staging the subject/focus of the work. Yet, an hour before the work is made there is no idea, no plot and no intention but experimentation and documentation.
