In my photography practice I am not trying to create beauty, but rather reveal it. I want to eschew all artificiality, from lighting to staging. My hope is that I allow my subjects to be who they are, rather than imposing on them who I think they are or want them to be, and for that to come through in the resulting images. I do this by connecting with them prior to taking the shot and waiting for the decisive moment. I want to convey a simplicity of form but with an underlying complexity of emotion. These two photographs are fully candid moments.
