Artifact: Wire work 2020

This work is about environment, land use and discarded material. It's also about a preoccupation with shape and line. I've been collecting randomly shaped wire fragments from Leslie Spit, a spit of land that juts out into Lake Ontario. The spit is a man-made landfill site built from the demolition of buildings and homes in Toronto from the 1950s to 1980s. The wire fragments have been shaped by an environment of water, ice, stone and concrete and most are artifacts from electrical systems. Archival digital prints in a limited edition of five, size 15"x15" or 12"x12". The grid is 50"x50".
