My photographs capture a moment in time, before it disappears. Surface qualities are examined while documenting the markings of places on the verge of disappearing. Through my photographic series, I explore what is historically valued within a changing social and economic landscape in America.
In “Domestic Arrangements,” I visited the homes of family, friends and neighbors with a 4x5 camera and observed their collected objects between the years of 2001-2003. The idiosyncratic qualities of various materials are highlighted using scale, texture and color. A surreal quality exists in these interior settings, as I illustrate how mass produced items become personalized and culturally identified.
