My connection to Hennepin Ave invites me to call it home. I went to junior high and high school on Hennepin, and I have lived one block off of Hennepin for over 15 years. Photographing life on Hennepin – as witnessed through the storefronts, cafes, restaurants, coffee shops, small businesses, large national retail chains, churches, a synagogue, pedestrian sidewalks, school playgrounds, apartment buildings, single family homes, and shade trees, has been a long-term project. I photograph Hennepin Avenue because it is my life’s thoroughfare. These photographs reflect the aftermath of the Uprising in the days following George Floyd’s murder.
