We are surrounded by “them.” They are as close as the screen of our laptops and as far as a billboard on the street of our neighborhoods. One day, we created them and we were supposed to watch them, but it seems like it is the other way around. Now they are watching us. They are living with us like some unwanted aliens, controlling us and trying to direct our attention toward a specific objective even when we are not aware of it.
This photo series is a snap shot of the commercially saturated society we live in. I found New York City as a good representative and candid street photography in black and white as a technique to show how advertisements are impacting our daily lives, social interactions, personal connections and individual privacy more than anytime before.
