When quarantine began, I, along with millions of other college students, was abruptly sent home in the middle of the semester. For months, I was stuck in the place that I grew up; the place I was supposed to be breaking away from. Although I was still taking classes online, it felt as if I had been transported back to a time when my sister and I would spend our days constructing imaginary worlds. A time when only the hum of electricity and cicada song kept us awake, and the world beyond the brick walls was beyond our grasp. A time that no longer exists.
Shot on 4x5 film, developed in my bathroom sink.
