film - still -- life 2014 - 2016

Magdalena ZEISEL’s photo and video series explores and demonstrates the “performance capacity” of light and translucent materials. The images are created indirectly, they are partly results of illusions: the still life arrangements are altered by the light and the environment. The unretouched photos, created with simple photographic tools, constitute the first chapter of a cycle that began in the autumn of 2014. The items arranged in the interior still lifes – in the artist’s home – are made of plexi, glass, mirrors, tracing paper, and occasionally of copper sheets.
