Occhiolino

[EN] In 1609, Galileo Galilei invented his own microscope which he called “occhiolino”, which in Spanish means “small eye”. Since then, this word has also been used to define a deep philosophical concept: that of being aware of our little perspective on the world. In this series of black and white photographs I try to capture the immensity of the landscape that surrounds us, the breadth of a huge world in contrast to the tiny scale of our existence. In this constant dialogue between man and nature, the power relationship exercised by the environment is always overwhelming, a lost battle, an eternal longing. - [ES] El año 1609, Galileo Galilei inventó su propio microscopio al que llamó "occhiolino", que en castellano significa "ojo pequeño". Desde entonces, esta palabra se ha utilizado también para definir un concepto filosófico profundo: el de ser conscientes de nuestra pequeña perspectiva del mundo. En esta serie de fotografías en blanco y negro intento plasmar la inmensidad del paisaje que nos rodea, la amplitud de un mundo enorme en contraste con la diminuta escala de nuestra existencia. En ese diálogo constante entre el hombre y la naturaleza, la relación de poder que ejerce el entorno es siempre abrumador, una batalla pérdida, un anhelo eterno.
