In modern art, they increasingly neglect the aesthetic component of the work alone, the understanding of the beautiful becomes more and more blurred, and an idea or concept is put at the forefront. Often the emphasis shifts from the result of creativity to the process of creation. That is why I was interested in the possibility of exploring the combination of performance and photography.
The classical method of photography involves choosing and setting the pose of the photographed, following a rather rigid framework, while the main role in the art of performance is played by the opportunity to go beyond the ordinary, to destroy the boundaries between high art and the daily life of people.
As a psychologist, I was always intrigued by the topic of personality research. As a tool, I prefer projective tests. That is, not questionnaire tests, where a person answers the list of prepared questions - there are always a lot of lies in them, but tests where the study is carried out indirectly, through images that the tester either selects from the finished cards such as the Lucher color test, Sondi test, Rorschach test or pictogram methods, where the subject himself depicts images-house, tree, person, etc.
In The project "Metamorphoses of the Mind" used the projective technique of Rorschach. I made slide cards, with a certain type of texture and tone that are clearly visible in the photos received.
A key feature of the project is the way to respond to a projective test. A performance dance was shown as a response, that is, a non-verbal response was also received to the non-verbal technique, which makes this work truly unique.
The psyche reacts to each spot in different ways, this reaction is expressed through movement, shadows and spots. I captured this moment in the photo.
"Metamorphoses of the mind" is not a rethinking of cultural experience, it is an attempt to convey the mental perception of the surrounding reality. The reality of Rorschach's spots as an unrealistic inner world.
This project was completed, together with the talented ballerina Alekseeva Alisa.
Alice expressed her attitude and feeling towards this projection through the means of randomly reproduced choreographic movements without any preliminary preparation.
Ink spots awakened the work of the unconscious, around this key Jackson Pollock worked when he tried to depict his subconscious by spraying paint on the canvas.
So it turned out that the photo is perceived as a kind of document, the photo is more realistic than painting. I think that if a picture shows something otherworldly and unconscious for the viewer, he almost does not lose his documentary properties. Therefore, the resulting frames can be considered fingerprints of personality...
Working on the project, I received a very sincere and emotional response, filled with difficult meanings and great potential for further exploration of the mind.
