Walking with Waste is a project that aims to document litter within local environments. The project takes place over three linear walks covering three and a half miles and documenting 1945 individual pieces of waste. The project raises awareness of the hidden pollution we pass everyday, something that can only be seen once you are looking for it.
The diptychs show a juxtaposition of the pristine romantic landscape we often see and the polluted environment that is often hidden from us. This way of presenting documentary style images of waste along side aesthetical landscape images aims to inform the audience of a new way of seeing, a way that makes people aware of the pollution outside their door step, embedder in he natural environment.
The images of waste are mainly complied of litter that is decaying, often covered by dirt, sticks, leaf's and even submerged by water. These images are chosen in particular to show how plastic, metal and other forms of waste are becoming part of the environment slowly making the two elements indistinguishable from one another.
